Well, we spotted our last episode for 2011 last Friday – PABF04 “The D’oh-cial Network”. Written by J. Stewart Burns, this will be the 11th episode of season 23, the 497th episode as we inch ever closer to 500. The episode is scheduled to air on FOX Sunday, January 15, 2012. The story revolves around Lisa founding her own social network on the Internet so as to broaden her base of friends. The network becomes so popular that it has unexpected consequences for her and for the entire town of Springfield. We spotted 21 cues in this episode for a total of about six-and-a-half minutes of music. Be on the lookout for an extended couch gag with some surprise special guests, plus a bonus at the end of the episode as well as a new and unique take on the End Credits theme.
And now, time for a little bit of shameless self-promotion! In a few days this blog will be five months old. I know, it’s still in its infancy, but I want to grow the readership just a little. Big time blogs out there get thousands of hits a day. I know I’m a long way from that, but I’d like to aim for (wait for it … there’s going to be a theme here) 500 hits in a day. The most hits I’ve had in a single day so far is 290. I also have 225 followers on twitter. I’d love to have 500. Finally, I’ve had just over 13,000 page views in total since I started the blog. I’m aiming for 15,000 (there’s a 500 buried in there). Can you help me achieve these goals by February 19, 2012 when the 500th episode airs? Just email a friend or two with a link to the blog. You can copy and paste this link into your email or Facebook status or Twitter feed https://simpsonsmusic500.wordpress.com/ I’ll let you know when any of the new thresholds have been crossed.
In the meantime, I am so grateful for the readers that I do have, for the positive comments I’ve received and for the fact that so many SIMPSONS fans are still out there enjoying the show, staying passionate about the show, and hungry for more info about the show. With the newly signed 2-year contract extension, as I write this we still have 62 more episodes to go before we start worrying about the next contract extension.
Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends, stay safe, be kind and loving to others and I’ll be back with more news and commentary after January 1.
Hello there! I have a question, in this episode there is a song which plays slightly after 18:30 min. Can anyone tell me the name of the song? Thanks!
Scroll down here in the comments to the same question asked by “mlayerpark”. I answered this question there. Thanks for asking and reading.
What was the song during the couch gag, when they were in the taxi and running down the street?
“Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin. More on that in the next post … stay tuned!
Wasn’t the song in the “Show’s too short” thing the 12 monkeys theme?
Wellllll…. not exactly. Every now again producers and directors succumb to what we in the music biz call “temp love”. For the “Dark Stanley” story line in JABF09 “Yokel Chords” the scenes used Ástor Piazzolla’s “Introduccion” from the Suite Punta del Este (which was also used in the movie “12 Monkeys”) as the temp music. They liked the music but did not want to license the original. Alf Clausen then wrote his own original score in the style of “Introduccion”. Fast forward to PABF04 “The D’oh-cial Network” and the scene used as temp music Alf’s cue from “Yokel Chords”. So Alf was called on to write a cue in the style of himself, in the style of “Introduccion”. Sometimes this is a crazy business.
Can you tell me the song was played in this episode. It’s in the background and sort of a haunting song; it sounds like a small girl singing. Thanks.
It’s called “Creep” performed by The Scala Choir. Youtube Video here.
Chris I’m dying to know what the song is towards the end of the episode the D’oh-dial network! It’s a bunch of kids singing it I think and it has some piano? Please respond!
“Creep” performed by The Scala Choir. Youtube Video here. It was also used in “The Social Network”.
In this episode, what was the name of that song used in the middle that had kind of a humming sound, no words? I’ve heard it on commercials before. Thanks for any info.
I think you’re thinking of “Creep”, performed by The Scala Choir. Youtube Video here. There are words, but they are a bit hard to understand so maybe you perceived the singing as humming.
I’m happy to have landed here today. Consider me subscribed. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Thanks for finding me. I hope you enjoyed your visit. I checked out your blog and smiled the entire time. My wife and I are recent grandparents so we’re reliving parenthood in a slightly different way. Happy New Year to you, too!
Congratulations! I heard a rumor that being grandparents is WAY better than parenting. My parents have a sign in their house that reads, “What happens at grandma’s house, stays at grandma’s house!”
Thanks for stopping by my blog. When you’re feeling nostalgic for your youth, stop on back. We’ll still be celebrating the shenanigans of childhood. That’s how I keep my sanity. 😉
Cheers!
The best part of grandparenting is sending the little bundle of joy home with her parents at the end of the day 😉
We who work with the WikiProject The Simpsons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_The_Simpsons) on Wikipedia have had great use of your blog for the season 23 episode articles (we’re grateful for any production info we can get!). Your blog is referenced in several of them so hopefully that draws some visitors. Merry Christmas! 🙂
I have seen visitors referred to me from your site. Thanks so much for that. Merry Christmas to you, too.
Done! Have a good Christmas and New Year Chris!
Thank you! Happy Christmas & New Year to you, too.
